Two Months Old

Two. Months. Old. God sure knew what He was doing when he surprised us with these two little people. We are beginning to fall into a routine and figuring the twin & four kids under 5 thing out. Some days are much easier than others (which is pretty much everyone's life I'm sure). All I know is I cannot get enough of these two. When they nap, although I am happy to be able to get a few things done...I miss them like crazy and can't wait until they wake up to play and snuggle!

These past two months have been exciting, challenging, exhausting, testing and most importantly filled with LOTS of LOVE.

My top 5 takeaways for month two of this twin journey.

They are beginning to sleep a little longer, but don't get too excited. The moment you get excited, that night they won't sleep as long as they did the night before. Take each night as they come and hope for the best, but don't be too disappointed if they wake up. It won't be long that they won't be waking you up for that 2AM snuggle and trust me you will miss it.

Sleeeeeep babies sleeeeeep. Zzzzzz.
PS this is a photo of a supervised nap, hence why they have blankets. I don't dare take a picture during nighttime sleeping (where there are zero blankets, only swaddles for these babes) in fear of the camera flash waking them up. Nobody has time for that.

Pacifiers are becoming the real deal. When or if, okay let's be real WHEN they wake up in the middle of the night and you know they can last a little long before their next feeding...give them a PACI! Our "go to" are the Wub-a-Nubs. Not only are they stinking adorable, but they make finding those oh so precious pacifiers in the dark MUCH easier my friends. Bonus, they give the babes something to cuddle as they are drifting back off to dreamland.

Wub-A-Nubs FTW.

A schedule is beginning to emerge. Yes, you read that right. We are beginning to have days where they eat, play and sleep the same times each day. Once they start having those longer stretches of sleep (see number 5) your days begin to start and continue on somewhat the same each day, or at least they have for us *knock on wood*. Having the babies go down for a consistent morning, afternoon, late afternoon and evening naps has really helped me plan our day. They are beginning to follow the rule where we eat for 15-30 minutes, we get to play for 30-45 minutes and then it's time to sleep!

Clearly loving playtime. Clearly.

Witching hour. Now this might not be an exciting thing, but it happens. Toward the end of month two we are beginning to see a fussy time for both babies. Luckily or maybe not so luckily they are at the same time. It is good to know when their fussy time will be because maybe we can be organized and plan for it but it is a tad unlucky because it is usually during Hattie and Rhett's bedtime routine. This can be quite the challenge trying to manage two fussy babies, a toddler and a five year old going on fifteen. However, we get through it somehow, someway and hopefully by month three I will be able to report the infamous witching hour has left the building! Hey, we can all hope at least right?

Organized chaos?

Smiles. Beautiful, yet subtle smiles are starting to bless your tired eyes and making your heart melt all over again. From their birth to about now they will stare at you, the fan, the kitchen light but you never really know if they had a lot going on in those sweet brains, but now you do! They are beginning to recognize voices, faces and showing their happiness with those they see by blessing them with a smile or two and brace yourself...it is PERFECTION.

There you have it. Month TWO is in the books and we are already onto month three and loving every single moment. Until next time...enjoy Ryne and Harlow's month two milestone pics below.

Growing....Week by Week

My sweet little "babies bump" turned itself into a mound and finished as a mountain!

This post is mainly for the sole purpose for myself to reflect back on the changes my body went through during my twin pregnancy and as you can see big sister and big brother wanted in on the action...most of the time anyway :).
Enjoy!

And then they arrived at 37 weeks and 4 days.
